Performance
Most slowness in Keypra has one of four causes: a heavy model, a huge document, a busy Canvas, or a flaky network. Here is how to spot which one and fix it.
Practice Lab analysis is slow
- • You picked a Pro/reasoning model — these are slower by design. Switch to a Flash-class model for fast feedback loops.
- • Your prompt is very long. Trim context cards or pick specific blocks instead of whole docs.
- • Your BYOK provider is slow today. Try the Lovable Gateway model picker as a control.
- • Streaming dropped — refresh the panel to reconnect.
Composer preview lags while typing
- • Many blocks resolved live: collapse blocks you are not editing.
- • A persona or context card includes large embedded content.
- • Token counter is recalculating on every keystroke — close the panel if you do not need it constantly.
- • Stress Test panel is open and re-running on each save — close it until you want a fresh run.
Palace map or Research Canvas feels heavy
- • Hundreds of nodes on screen: switch on Focus mode or filter by Wing/Room.
- • Use search instead of pan-and-zoom for large libraries.
- • Hardware acceleration off in the browser will hurt — re-enable it in browser settings.
- • On laptops, low power mode throttles the GPU. Plug in.
Classroom or Self Discovery feels laggy
- • Realtime depends on a stable websocket. VPNs and corporate proxies often interfere.
- • If a slide is wrong, click Re-sync — do not refresh repeatedly.
- • Lecturers: avoid switching slides faster than the broadcast can settle (~1s).
Latency from outside the EU
Keypra runs in the EU. Round-trip latency from APAC or the Americas is usually 150–300ms before the model even starts. This is normal. EU-only model policies will route to EU model regions and may add a small extra hop.
Quick wins
- • Pick a Flash-class model for daily practice; reserve Pro/reasoning for the final pass.
- • Close panels you are not actively using.
- • Clear the browser cache once a month.
- • If a feature is consistently slow, check System status.
