    Agent Builder

Create a workplace assistant in minutes, then fine-tune it with the AI Coach.

Agent Builder turns what you've learned about prompts into a working assistant you can use every day. You describe the job, Keypra asks a few focused questions, and you get structured instructions you can paste into the assistant feature of your everyday AI tool. It follows the same building blocks as Lesson 8 — role, context, task, format, constraints — so your agent is built on the standard you already know.

    ℹ️Where to find it

Click Agent Builder in the sidebar, just under Practice Lab. Free-plan users can keep one agent; paid plans include more.

    What you'll see

    Model choice first

The first step asks which AI model the agent will run on. The instructions are shaped for that model's strengths, and new frontier models appear automatically.

    Guided questions

The AI asks one focused question at a time — up to six — with suggested answers you can tap or replace with your own. You can stop early at any point.

    A character budget

Finished instructions stay under 8,000 characters, the limit most assistant features enforce. If a draft runs over, Keypra shortens it while keeping the rules that matter.

    Version history

Every saved change becomes a new version you can reload, so you can always step back to what worked.

    How to use it

    1

    Pick the model

Choose which AI model your agent will run on. This comes first so everything built after it fits.

    2

    Describe the brief

Three short fields: what the agent does, who uses it, and what it must never do.

    3

    Answer the questions

One question at a time, each with tap-able suggested answers. "Good enough, build it" is always at the top.

    4

    Review the build

You get a name, a description, the instructions with a live character meter, and conversation starters. Copy or download everything.

    5

    Fine-tune with the Coach

When a real reply disappoints, paste it into the Coach. It finds the cause, proposes a change, and shows it side by side before you apply it.

    Folders and sharing

On the Agent Builder page, click New folder to group your agents, then drag an agent onto a folder or use Move to folder on its card. Deleting a folder never deletes the agents in it. To share, choose Share with a colleague and enter their email: they receive their own copy to accept, and your original stays unchanged. A shared agent counts towards the receiver's plan, and Legal-mode agents need the Builder plan.

    Start from a persona

If you've already built a persona in Persona Studio, open it and click Turn into agent. Agent Builder starts from those instructions, so you keep the work you've already put in — and the Coach helps you adapt it for day-to-day use.

Using your skills in other AI tools

Skills you keep after the Skill check follow the same idea as the open Agent Skills format: a folder with one SKILL.md file holding a name, a one-line description of when to use it, and the steps. Tools read the description first and open the full skill only when a task matches, so make it say what the skill does and when to use it. Re-check a skill after the AI model changes. Read more about the format.

Read any skill you didn't write before you use it, as you would any outside document, and keep it only after the with-and-without test.

    Three layers

Under the instructions, Three layers helps you sort what belongs where. Always: who the agent serves, the job and the boundaries. Keep this short, because it is read on every reply. House style: tone, format and length. Only when needed: step-by-step procedures for one kind of task. If your instructions contain a long numbered procedure, Keypra suggests turning it into a skill. It never changes your text.

    One agent or several?

Start with one agent and add skills for procedures you need only sometimes. Split work into separate agents only when the tasks are truly separate and need little from each other. One agent per team usually means details get lost in the hand-offs.

When several people add rules, they can end up contradicting each other. Three layers points out lines that may pull in different directions, such as "be brief" and "explain in detail", so one owner can merge them. It never changes your text.

    💡Practice chat, honestly labelled

Your agent runs in your own AI tool, not in Keypra. Use it there on real tasks, then paste any reply that missed into the AI Coach to find the cause. Skill check runs a short side-by-side on Keypra, only to decide whether a skill helps.

    Your language

Write the brief in your own language and Keypra notices it: a small "Talking in" label appears, and you can change it. The questions, the summary, the Coach and Skill check then use that language. Buttons stay in English. The instructions are written in English unless you ask for your language, and the agent always replies in the language its user writes in. If they are in English, "Show in my language" gives you a read-only translation to check what you approve.
